Celebrities Use Hypnotherapy To Quit Smoking

Back in 1992, Frank Schmidt and Chockalingam Viswesvaran reviewed 48 case studies covering 6020 subjects. The studies involved the use of alternative medicines in quitting smoking, it revealed that one of the most successful methods, hypnotherapy, had a quit rate of over 30%. All of the studies proved that hypnotherapy treatments proved much more successful than any nicotine replacement products. However the basis for the success is down to the skill and methods of the hypnotherapist and the willingness of the patient.

With the recent banning of smoking in public places in much of Europe and the USA, more and more people are looking to quit, the unusual method has had particular favour in LA as more and more people jump on the celebrity bandwagon. Many actors, singers and personalities are turning to the unconventional treatments just like their fellow tinsel=towners.

Hypnotherapy companies have been approached by numerous celebrities looking to receive treatment. Among them are Matt Damon, Samuel L Jackson, Drew Barrymore, Ellen Degeneres, and Ben Affleck. Affleck says he has successfully quit smoking thanks to hypnosis. Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey show, he said “I finally decided to quit smoking when I found out I was going to have a child. That was the thing that sort of put it over the top for me. I decided to go to a hypnotist.”

Many companies offering hypnosis treatments are reaping the benefits with most offering digital sessions with customers around the world. Some also sell MP3s to download, something that has proved highly popular.

Recently, singer Katy Perry has opted to stub out her habit, revealing that she had taken up smoking to relieve the stress over her upcoming wedding plans to comedian Russell Brand. She acknowledged that as a role model to kids she was portraying a bad image and was not proud of the fact she smoked.
