How I Built Solid Muscle Fast

1995 I am 135lbs with a pot belly. Chicks don’t dig me. I want to play High School rugby and football but unfortunately, I am weak, soft and out shape. The only contact sports I have been playing during those times are video games. Let’s just say it appeared that there is not much potential in my athletic career. When I started playing the two sports, rugby and football, which I have always wanted to play back in High School and I would fight back the tears at times because tackling and hitting was so painful. I was almost a bag of bones with some fat around them. The muscle armor I needed to protect my body during contact was not there. Fortunately around the same time I’ve decided to do some weight lifting after school instead of smoking pot, getting stoned like most of the kids. I have really no idea or didn’t know what I was doing but it helped me out a bit in a lot of ways. I was not able to get strong as fast I as I would have liked to be but a bit of a muscle is better than nothing.

My senior year of High School, I seriously took lifting weights and I was starting to be actually considered big. Unfortunately, I had was also doing something that is contradicting to attaining my goal, which basically was eating a lot of food that I can somehow associate as garbage… and I became fat at the same time. But even so, I was still on rugby but couldn’t make it to the elite levels because my conditioning was not where it needed to be. I almost become the classic guy at the gym who is pretty big and strong but…has a fat gut. Yes, big arms and a gut. But then of course I figured to myself that I was just huge! The major dilemma I had was not being able to get strong and lean both at the same time. The strength was the only positive advantage I have that got me far when it comes to football and rugby. What I really needed was speed and conditioning both added to the mix.

After I graduated college, my mission to get really strong has turned slow. There was no easy way I could figure out how I’d get to my goal of getting strong fast, more importantly to keep getting stronger. And I had to solve this challenge of speed and conditioning problem, which I just had to switch from football and rugby to power-lifting. In the long run I became burned out after 4 for years of competing but there was only 3 years of progress. I was a bit frustrated, it was pretty frustrating. I still couldn’t find a better or best way to get really strong and lean both at the same time.

From power lifting burn out as well as my quest for crazy strength, I’ve decided to try a different routine and got myself into mixed martial arts. At this time and point I wasn’t into caring about getting really strong anymore. I just wanted to be lean and healthy at least for a while. The miracles of the MMA have worked!
